Sage: The Wise One

It’s easy to overlook the humble plants that we use culinarily, forgetting that they often carry potent medicine. After a month of taking Sage everyday with our Herbal Medicine Club we are officially wildly in love with this potent medicine.

Sage can be used to support digestive function, soothe sore throats, relieve hot flashes. improve circulation and so much more. Today we’re highlighting the key aspect that everyone in the club noticed over our month-long deep dive… its impact on the mind and consciousness.

Sage’s medicinal applications are very diverse, but when distilled down, the consistant theme is it’s capacity to clear the body, mind & spirit, helping us align with deeper states of presence. For those who feel scattered, distracted or mentally dull, Sage refreshes the mind without stimulating the nervous system.

It increases capacity for memory and focus, and is an excellent medicine for students, writers or creatives to stay on task or move through blocks.

Sage supports those who've lost touch with themselves, and their ability to trust their intuition. It clears mental, emotional and spiritual haze, sharpening our inner vision so we can connect with our truth and purpose.

The medicine of Sage supports us to alchemize raw experience into wisdom and perspective. It helps us evolve into the Sage archetype, The Wise One.

Sage can be enjoyed as a tea or tincture for internal use, or can be infused into oil and applied topically. It can be quite drying as a tea; mixing it with honey or Liquorice root can balance out the dryness and is quite delicious.

Please note that this plant is contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation.
